Bethpage

Bethpage is a hamlet located in the Town of Oyster Bay, covering 3.6 square miles of Long Island and situated within Nassau County. Bethpage was established in 1695 when the first original settler, Thomas Powell, had purchased 15 square miles of land from the three Native American Indian Tribes: The Marsapeaque Tribe, the Sacatogue Tribe and the Matinecoc Tribe. Today, the land purchased includes parts of Farmingdale, Plainview, Plainedge and Melville. Bethpage is home to the famous Bethpage Black Golf Course that has hosted two US Golf Opens and many PGA events, as well as the Bethpage State Park – the gem of the Bethpage community.

Fun fact: from 1936 until 1994, Bethpage was home to the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation.
